Eastleigh's post-war and 1960sβ70s housing stock has timber fascia boards that are now 50β60 years old. Many were last replaced or repainted in the 1990s, and the replacement uPVC from that era is itself now approaching end of life β the hollow-section uPVC products common in the 1990s have become brittle, have cracked at bracket fixing points, and have lost their original colour. Behind many of these boards, the timber fascias they were fitted over have rotted through in the damp zone behind failed gutter joints.
uPVC Fascia Replacement in Eastleigh
Modern cellular uPVC fascia board is substantially stronger and more durable than the hollow-section products installed in the 1980sβ90s. We install cellular foam-core boards throughout β in white, cream, grey, brown and anthracite β with matching soffits, vented soffit sections where required, and ogee or square-profile guttering in a coordinated colour. On most Eastleigh post-war semis, a full roofline renovation takes one day.
Finding Rot Behind Eastleigh Fascia Boards
On every Eastleigh fascia survey, we remove a section of existing board or check behind it with a probe to assess the timber underneath. Rotten rafter feet β the end of the roof structure that the fascia fixes to β are more common than most homeowners expect. Where we find rafter feet that have rotted, we report this in writing before starting any work and include the repair cost in the quote. We never fit new fascia boards over rotten timber.

What a Fascia Replacement Involves
We start every fascia job by inspecting behind the existing boards β removing a section to check the rafter feet for rot. Where rafter feet are damp or rotten, we repair them before fitting new fascias. New cellular foam-core uPVC fascias and soffits are fixed to the rafter feet with stainless screws. Vented soffit sections are fitted where the roof space requires through-ventilation. New guttering is fitted last, fixed to new fascia brackets at the correct fall. Most Winchester 3-bed semis take one day. Free survey and written fixed quote β call 01962 809171.
